Service Position: Greeter
The Greeter is the social face of Nooners, making attendees feel recognized and welcomed, before and after the meeting. The Greeter assists newcomers to discover and access supporting resources and materials, meeting schedules, and “next steps.”
The Greeter is assigned co-host status by the Host. This enables the use of “one-to-one” chat.
Requirements
- 1-year clean time
- Commitment for 1-2 meeting(s) per week for 6-months
- Knowledge of available NA-related resources
Duties
- Add “(Nooners Greeter)” after your name in Zoom, for example: Shirley S. (Nooners Greeter)
- Welcome the newcomer by starting a direct Zoom chat and introducing yourself as “the Nooners Greeter.”
- Always keep in mind that the NA policy is one of “Attraction rather than Promotion” so try to maintain a friendly, welcoming, non-pressuring approach with your communications. Allow the newcomer the opportunity to reach out before offering materials and resources. If the newcomer is not receptive, that is fine: simply greet and welcome.
- If the newcomer is receptive, copy and paste the Nooners resource links (below) into the chat.
- If the newcomer is receptive, you may provide them a link to the Introductory Guide to NA information pamphlet.
